Hi Students & Families,
There are lots of announcements for this week. Progress reports go home to families on Friday. We are working hard to make sure grades are up to date and reflect your child's efforts in class. If you use Parent Portal, please check back tomorrow afternoon to see if your child is missing assignments. On another note, Ray's Family STEM Night is from 5-7. Students working on STEM projects will participate in the exhibition which can be viewed by all. There will also be engaging activities for students and their families to participate in. I'll be volunteering in the gym and hope to see you there. 15 Day December Attendance Challenge Incentives Perfect attendance students with no tardies will be invited to a school-wide field trip Students with no tardies - Invitation to a special school event Winter Spirit Week (December 17-21) 12/17: Ugly/Beautiful Sweater Contest 12/18: Dress like a candy cane 12/19: Best Green Day 12/20: Pajama/Stuffed Animal Day 12/21: TBD Clothing

In writing, students are revising their persuasive essays they've been working on since the start of this quarter. 6th Grade: Students are reading The Crossover and working on reading responses. In addition to Wilson, students are working on short writing exercises focused on utilizing correct conventions. SK is working on multiplication and starting 3-D shapes as well as volume. In reading, SK is working on responding to comprehension questions. 7th Grade: MD will be working on responding comprehension questions without sentence stems for the first time. He will also work on following sentence patterns in his journal writing.

Hi Students & Families,
I am so sorry for the delay, I was under the weather but I am getting back to myself. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving break with my family. I also enjoyed the quality time I got to spend with my family. Please see below for an update on what we are working on. 4th Grade: In math we will continue using place value to add and subtract multi digit numbers. In reading, students are focusing on analyzing text structures of a non-fiction text, and answering questions using RAP (restate the question, answer the question, prove you're right). KJ is adding the letter L to his list of letters. 5th Grade: We will be adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators by finding the LCM (least common multiple) to make common denominators. In reading we are also working on text structures and using RAP with age/grade appropriate texts. 6th Grade: Students are continuing to read Crossover and respond to questions about the text. SK is reading an article about coding. 7th Grade: MD is working on responding to comprehension questions using text evidence.
