We had such a great time at the Logan Center! The artists were really engaging and kept us all dancing in our seats. Check out some of the photos and videos below.
Hi Students & Families,
Thank you so much for your patience with me! Students do have homework this week and most of them received it at the end of the day. We are wrapping up NWEA testing this week and taking a field trip. As always, please email me if you'd like to know how your child scored. We also have a new student teacher! This January through April, Ms. Montney will be our student teacher as Ms. Zelnick has moved on to teaching in Ms. Webb's room. She will be sending home the same forms that Ms. Zelnick did to acknowledge your consent for videos and photos used for university purposes. On Thursday we are taking a field trip to the Logan Center for the Arts. We will see Bomba Con Buya, a traditional Puerto Rican music and dance group. To support understanding, all students will learn about triangular trade and its influence on Puerto Rico. We will also learn about the elements of music and identify them within Bomba music. It should be a lot of fun! Please sign and return field trip slips by Wednesday. Only fourth graders will need to bring a lunch as we will return after their lunch period. 4th Grade: Math students are working on multiplying a multi-digit number by a single digit number using three different methods (Partial Products, Area Model, Standard Algorithm). Students will also be working on drafting a paragraph with complete sentences and sound ideas. We will also start working on disseminating information the wax museum project. Please read the books I send home Tuesday so that we can start working on Thursday afternoon. 5th Grade: Math students are working on multiplying a single digit whole number by a fraction. Your child may need support with changing their answer from an improper fraction to a mixed number or reducing. Students are working on strengthening their opinion based writing as well as putting the finishing touches on their persuasive writing. Students are also working on identifying the main idea in a non-fiction text. 6th Grade: Students are wrapping up the Crossover. SK is continuing his work on 3-D shapes. SK is also focusing on responding to comprehension questions. 7th Grade: MD is working on improving his comprehension using a fictional text.
