Hi Students & Families,
Last week we completed NWEA testing. This helps us figure out where your children are at and how to grow them as learners. I want to compliment all of you on your hard work over the summer. Most students are near where they left off at the end of the year. This helps so much in building on to what was already accomplished rather than starting with remediation of lost skills. THANK YOU!!! I have invited all parents to join us on Class Dojo as of Tuesday morning. This will give you real-time information regarding how your child is doing in class behaviorally. I try to put in points in the moment and will also add pictures of students in class viewablein your child’s story. Lastly, homework was sent for all students who see me for the majority of their assigned subject areas. Please keep an eye out for it. All reading logs need to be signed by a parent, there's also a discussion point. This week it's a scavenger hunt within the blog. Good luck!

Hi Students & Families,
Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a very nice summer. I got to spend a lot of quality time with my family exploring Chicago. Summer was great, but it's nice to return to Ray. I'm especially excited about having assistance from our student teacher, Ms. Zelnick. Please keep an eye out for an introduction letter and some paperwork that went home with students today. Ms. Zelnick requires signed photo and video consent forms for her graduate classes. Please return them as soon as possible. Regular homework will start next week.

Hi Students & Parents,
This week we will be PARCC testing. Please ensure students get a good night of sleep and eat breakfast. Also make sure students arrive at school on time so that they do not miss a testing session. I will be giving all students their break work this week as homework. It is not due until after we return on April 2nd. Have a wonderful spring break!

Hi Students & Parents,
This week all students who see me for writing will begin working on a mystery story. In reading, we will focus on our chapter books or begin one together. Math students are working on decimals and multi-digit multiplication in 4th grade, decimals and coordinate graphs in 5th grade, and multiplication with variables in 6th grade. SK and MD are working on addition with three or more digits in math.

Hi Students & Parents,
I hope you enjoyed the extended weekend. My family enjoyed having the extra time together. I am looking forward to this week as Wednesday will be our Black History Month assembly. Last week we watched a documentary on the history of the Civil Rights Movement. We will continue thinking through the progress our country has made since then. A note to math students in 4th and 5th grade, you need to have the Home Links workbook to complete your homework. They were given to each student at the beginning of the year. If you cannot locate your copy, you may purchase a new one for $10.

Hi Students & Parents,
I do not have much of an update for this week. In math, 4th and 5th graders will wrap up chapter 3 and begin working on chapter 4. ELA students will be working on a Black History Month project to be displayed during the assembly and gallery walk.

Hi Students & Parents,
I hope you have been keeping warm! I'm currently watching the snow fall from my classroom window dreading the trek outside. It has been a busy couple of weeks for me on the paperwork end of my job, but things are finally getting back to normal. In math, we are moving back to using Everyday Math for 4th and 5th grade. In ELA we will all be working on our biography lapbook project.
